Families from across Ipswich have gathered to celebrate the launch of the Empower Hub - a community initiative offering weekly activities, education, and support in one of the town’s deprived areas.
The project, backed by the Premier League Charitable Fund, the Professional Footballers’ Association, and the Lentonbrook Foundation, aims to bring families together, reduce isolation, and create new opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and feel included.

Leanne Smith, health and inclusion manager at the Ipswich Town Foundation, said the hub will make a tangible difference for local families.
“It’s a safe space to come and play with their kids and engage with us,” she explained.
“Families might need help with aspirations, food banks or warm clothes, we’re here to support them in any way we can.”
The launch saw Ipswich Town players join families for arts and crafts sessions, games, and conversations, as part of the club’s ongoing commitment to community engagement.
Defender Harry Clarke, who grew up in Ipswich, said it was a special evening.

“It’s great to see smiles on everyone’s faces,” he said. “Not every area has the same opportunities, so it’s brilliant to give something back.”
Club captain Dara O’Shea added: “It means a lot to come here and play games with the kids. Seeing them happy brings back great memories of my own childhood.”
