A 28-year-old woman whose death is being investigated as murder has been formally identified as her family pays tribute.

Police officers were called at 1.10am on Tuesday, March 10, to concerns for the welfare of a woman at an address in Russet Road, Ipswich.

On arrival at the scene, officers found a woman who was unresponsive. She was declared deceased a short time later.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place on Wednesday, March 11, the outcome of which is that the cause of death is pending further investigation.

Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Karlie Sone, aged 28, from Ipswich.

Her family has issued the following tribute on their behalf: "Our beloved Karlie Sone was a much-loved mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, auntie and friend.

"Our family is absolutely devastated that our beautiful Karlie has been ripped away from her two daughters and her family and friends, leaving an unfillable void in all of our hearts.

"The tragic loss of Karlie has meant that her daughters will now have to face life and grow up without their amazing loving mummy by their side. They were her absolute world.

"Karlie was the most beautiful caring soul you could ever wish to meet; she lit up any room she walked into; her smile and her infectious laugh would brighten everyone's day.  She was so funny and would always have all who knew her laughing. If Karlie wasn’t surrounding herself with family, she was with her incredible friends raving all the way through the night to drum and bass, which was her second passion after being a mother.

"Karlie will always be in our thoughts and memories, and she will never be forgotten. Although she will be sorely missed, she will live on through her daughters who will always be loved and cherished as she would have wanted.

"We would like to express our gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family and strangers who have generously rallied to support our family at this difficult time.

"We will never get over losing Karlie, and we will forever be heartbroken.

"Rest in peace, Karlie. We all love you so much."

A fundraiser was launched a couple of days after Ms Sone's death to raise funds for her funeral, and also to help support her two daughters.

Within hours, the fundraiser on GoFundMe had hit £10,000, and on Friday afternoon, around 30 hours after the fundraiser was launched, it has raised more than £17,000.

Family and friends are also set to gather at Landseer Place on Saturday evening for a vigil to remember Ms Sone.

A 39-year-old man was arrested in connection with Karlie’s death in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Paul Stevenson, of Fletcher Road in Ipswich, was subsequently charged with murder. He appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, March 12 and at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, March 13 and has been remanded in custody pending his next hearing on May 11.
