Plans to expand an existing house with multiple occupants (HMO) in the town centre have been objected to by neighbours.

Ipswich Borough Council received plans last month with the intention of expanding 86 London Road from a six-bed to seven-bed HMO.

The plans were submitted on January 29 and processed by the council on March 16.

An objection from a neighbour stated: "I am not sure the property has been managed to the benefit and reassurance of its neighbours."

Concerns were raised over the current use of the HMO with issues including late night noise nuisance and drug dealing.

The neighbour also states that the residents of the road were told by councillors that HMO expansion would not be encouraged.

Application documents state that the proposed extension would see a single-storey added to the current property.

The extension would be to the rear of the house while a loft conversion has also been proposed to create space for another bedroom.

Proposed changes would see six of the seven proposed bedrooms given an en-suite which upgrades the property from the existing two shower rooms.
