A new play tower has been installed more than five months after a fire damaged the previous tower.
Ipswich Borough Council has installed a new tower in the play area at Chantry Park in Ipswich.
The previous one was destroyed after it was set alight at the start of December.
The new tower cost the council around £75,000 to replace.
An Ipswich Borough Council spokesperson said: “We are pleased that a new play tower will be reinstated at Chantry Park for children to enjoy.
“Installation work is due to be completed this week. The equipment will then be inspected by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), and it will open once this process is complete.
“CCTV is also being installed to monitor the area and help prevent any further vandalism.”
The previous tower, which was installed as part of the play area renovations was completed in August 2025, was set alight after yobs damaged the play area causing "irreparable damage".
Police were made aware after a blaze happened in Chantry Park at around 9pm on Tuesday, December 2.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of the slide at the park being set on fire.
Once the firefighters arrived at the scene, the slide and rubber matting on the floor were found to be ablaze.
The slide had been destroyed due to the fire.
Following the fire, police treated the incident as arson, with a fire accelerant found at the scene.
The play tower is set to reopen this week and will be open along with the rest of the play area.
One parents said that it is great news the tower is "finally restored" in time for summer.
