Several trains from Ipswich railway station were cancelled or delayed due to a blocked line.

Greater Anglia warned passengers to check before they travel on Monday morning after a freight train broke down between Bury St Edmunds and Kennett.

The issue affected people travelling on trains between Ipswich and Cambridge and Ipswich and Peterborough via Ely.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia said: “A freight train has developed a fault between Bury St Edmunds and Kennett, which cannot be rectified.

“This will need to be rescued.”

Trains have now returned to normal.
