Scout groups from Ipswich will meet with other groups across the world through the Portal on the Cornhill.

Young people in Ipswich will greet others through the Portal to fellow scouts in Poland, before cycling through other countries including Ireland, Brazil, The Philippines and the USA on Saturday, May 16.

The groups will gather at the Portal for 2pm local time, whilst their international friends will be there to wave at 3pm in Poland.

Scouts, scout leaders, former scouts, parents, supporters and friends of scouting and those who are wanting to display a sign of international friendship are being encouraged to join in the event.

Since its installation outside of Ipswich Town Hall last October, the portal has been used by family members to connect despite vast distances between them.

In February, a "truly heat-warming" moment happened when an Ipswich family greeted their aunt, who lives in Manila.

Ipswich is the first location in the UK to host a Portal, and has exclusive rights to have one for the first year of its installation.
