Ed Sheeran played a surprise gig at Ipswich Waterfront on Friday morning, starting off the set with a local support act, but who is she?

Lianne Kaye is a Colchester-based artist who Ed Sheeran said had "flown from her holiday" to busk with him.

Kaye has more than 10 million social media views and her songs are inspired by college rock, pop and Americana of the 90s and 00s.

She supported Craig Charles at the Castle Park gigs in Colchester in 2025, but also has the support from Paramore, Maroon 5, Michelle Branch, and James Bourne from Busted under her belt.

Her talent has earned her headline shows at London’s famous 100 Club, Slam Dunk, Brighten the Corners and recently opened up for Sir Tom Jones.

Kaye played several tracks at the Waterfront on Friday, including a cover of Sheeran's Lego House, before he joined her for Thinking Out Loud.
