Ed Sheeran performed a free concert at Ipswich Waterfront in collaboration with Orange Amps.
During the hour-long performance the superstar was using a custom-designed Orange amp.
During the show, Mr Sheeran gifted an amp to a young fan, Felix, who was passing by on his way to a dentist appointment.
He also gifted more of the amplifiers to other fans as well.
Crowds gathered early on Friday after Mr Sheeran announced the gig at the last minute on Thursday night on social media and tagged Orange amps in a Instagram post.
The musician, who grew up in Suffolk, explained his connection with the amplifier brand and the reason behind his busking appearance.
Ed Sheeran said: "The reason we're here I used to busk as a kid and I used to do it acoustically without an amp.
"I made the orange amp I'm using today and it's the first time I'm busking with it as I thought I would give it a go. "
Sarah Yule, managing director of Orange Amps, said: "We're so happy with how things went today and I think it was so important for us to kick things off in Ed's hometown.
"We're collaborating at the moment on something that's going to be landing on Wednesday, the 10th of June."
Orange Amps began as a single shop in London in 1968 and has been shaping the sound of modern guitar music ever since.
Their equipment is designed in Britain and built to perform both on the road and at home.
Hundreds of fans flocked to the waterfront, travelling from across Suffolk for the chance to sing along with the global star in an intimate setting.
