A new bar coming soon to the Waterfront has applied to have seating outside ahead of its anticipated arrival.

Velsheda, a new cafe, bar and restaurant, has applied to have 15 tables with 60 chairs outside its premises when it opens.

The chairs and tables will be outside between 8am and 10pm.

In April, the council approved the bars licence to allow it to serve alcohol and play live and recorded music, with that being the first indication that Velsheda was going to open.

It will be based at Unit 1 in the Winerack, facing out over the marina.

The applicants of Velsheda have said that it will create a safe place to enjoy with friends, family which would add value to what is already a beautiful space in Ipswich".

They also addressed residents' concerns by saying the venue will be well managed and that anti-social behaviour would be addressed with door staff and internal work will be done to reduce the noise levels.

Ipswich Borough Council licensing committee will make its decision on the pavement licence in due course.
