An Ipswich pub has announced once again it will be closing its doors.

The Suffolk Punch pub, in Norwich Road, announced in a shock social media post that Monday night was its final day of trading.

In a statement, the pub expressed gratitude to its patrons for their support over the past year.

They said: "Whether you've joined us for a pint, a meal, live music, karaoke, darts, or one of our many events, you've helped make this pub what it has been."

The pub will open as usual for its final evening to bid farewell to regulars.

Publicans, Terry and Sarah, undertook extensive work in the pub to get it ready when it opened in November last year.

With it closing again, it will mark the seventh time the pub has closed since July 2023.

The duo took over the pub just a couple of months after the previous owners closed the doors and offered countless themed evenings and events.

The post continued: "From Sarah, Terry and the entire team, thank you for all of your support."

Since July 2023, the pub has had a turbulent time with a number of different managers attempting to resurrect the pub.

Tenant Ryan O'Shea took over the pub in July 2023, but it was only open for a few weeks before the manager left.

It then closed while Mr O'Shea appointed a new manager. He was then served a no-fault notice on his tenancy of the pub and it closed again in October 2023.

The pub then reopened in November 2023 under the operation of Stonegate, who also run Manning and the Plough in Ipswich town centre.

In January 2024, the pub closed again and Mike and Wendy Smuts, the team behind Black Horse Inn in Ipswich took over the pub.

They left in August 2024.

Louise Primmer and her business partner then took over the pub in September 2024 with the pub remaining open for nine months before it closed its doors.
