An artist who helped create a huge mural in town which will "brighten the townscape every day" has died.
Ipswich artist John D Edwards, whose creativity, generosity and passion for his hometown left an enduring mark on the town, passed away on June 30.
John was widely admired for his distinctive artwork and his commitment to making art accessible, most recently opening his home studio for his popular Big Paintings for Small Prices exhibition in July 2025.

He was also instrumental in helping shape the large mural on the side of the Paul's building on Ipswich Waterfront, working alongside award-winning artist Sammi Wong to create the vibrant piece of public art.
Paying tribute, Ipswich Central chair Steve Flory said John "shared his time, skill and passion" to enrich the town, describing him as an artist whose work reflected "the best of what public art can be: collaborative, expressive and woven into the identity of a place."
He added: "Ipswich is better for his presence, and his legacy will continue to brighten the townscape every day."
