A man has been arrested and taken to hospital after he climbed on top of shops in the centre of Ipswich.
Suffolk police were called to Carr Street at 2.20am this morning after a man was reported on the roof of shops.
The man came down from the roof just before 9am this morning after a cordon was put in place with multiple police vehicles and a fire engine on the scene.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage and was escorted to hospital for treatment.
A Suffolk police spokesman added that the shop is now being boarded up.
The cordon was in place along the length of the Carr Street, with a fire engine extending its ladder to a building which houses Suffolk Mind Rest, Ipswich Nail Spa and a former butchers shop.
At the time, police urged the public to avoid the immediate area, with onlookers stopping at the Carr Street junction with Northgate Street.
