A paddling pool will be drained and not refilled after glass was found in the water.
The closure comes after a vandalism incident at Bourne Paddling Pool, where broken beer bottles were left around the pool and shards of glass were discovered in the water.
Cllr Stefan Long, Ipswich Borough Council’s portfolio holder for environment and sport, said: "This is such a senseless act by those who have left dangerous glass where children play.
"I am really sad that under current water restrictions, this means we have to leave the paddling pool dry.
"I hope those responsible consider how this affects local young children who would have enjoyed the pool in the last days of their summer holidays."
The pool must be drained for a full inspection and clean-up but cannot be refilled due to current water restrictions.
Essex and Suffolk Water, who supply freshwater to Ipswich, have had a hosepipe ban in place since July 11.
This prohibits the use of hosepipes for watering gardens, cleaning private vehicles, or filling or maintaining swimming pools, paddling pools and hot tubs.
The ban is the first in the region since 2012 and was introduced following weeks of extreme heat.
