An Ipswich pub has been given a fortnight to remove abandoned items after shutting suddenly.

A legal notice was served at the The Falcon Pub on August 27 and states that any items that remain in the pub as of 4pm on September 10 will be sold or disposed of.

Photographs displayed alongside it appear to show items including furniture, household appliances and pub parasols left in The Falcon Street business.

Heineken, who own the pub under their Star Pubs brand, announced that the pub had "closed without notice" earlier this month, after appearing closed for some weeks.

The pub had been opening at reduced hours for some time, and the Ipswich Star revealed in March that landlord James Langan had failed to pay staff.

A spokesperson for Star Pubs has since confirmed that Mr Langan has now left The Falcon.

They said: "The Falcon was leased to an independent operator to run as their own business.

"We are now keen to reopen The Falcon as soon as possible and are actively recruiting for a new operator to that end.

"The Falcon is a well-known pub in a great location in the heart of Ipswich, ideally positioned to attract residents and visitors to the town centre, including students and football fans attending matches at Portman Road.”

The spokesperson added that the pub, close to the Buttermarket and The Saints, had “lots of potential” because of its town-centre location, trading area and courtyard garden.

The Falcon is close to the route linking Ipswich town centre with the Waterfront, and is also within reach of Portman Road.
