A historic woodland has been saved for future generations after being secured by the parish council.
Portal Woods, in Martlesham, was listed on Rightmove for £50,000 in the early part of this year, with an auction due to be held in April.
In March, Martlesham Parish Council said it was exploring ways to protect the land, which sits between Main Road and Martlesham Police Headquarters.
Hundreds of homeowners in the village called for the woods to be saved.
It was then that East Suffolk Council made sure the auction was postponed as funds were raised to purchase the land.
The council then announced it had plans to meet with the police to see if it had an interest in the land.
Previously East Suffolk councillor for Martlesham, Mark Packard, said the parish council didn't believe the police were interested in the woods.

On Thursday, Martlesham Parish Council confirmed it had secured the 11.37 acres of Portal Woodlands for the "continued and future benefit of the community".
In a post on social media, it said: "We are pleased to confirm that Martlesham Parish Council has secured the 11.37 acres of land known as Portal Woodlands for the continued and future benefit of the community.
"We would like to thank everyone who has supported and pledged towards this work."

The land was previously owned by developers Grainger PLC who were responsible for building large parts of Martlesham Heath.
The woods has been looked after by the Portal Woodlands Conservation Group since 1999.
The group has spent the last 27 years planting trees and hedges, conserving 2 bronze-age burial mounds, repairing Second World War structures, maintaining pathways, and creating wildlife habitats.
