Strictly favourites Natalie Lowe&Ian Waite had the Ipswich Regent buzzing with fun, energy&laughter when they brought their Somewhere In Time tour to town last night.

Taking an “audience with” format, the 68-date UK tour brought the pair waltzing into Ipswich for the first time.

The show, which saw the professional dancers share the stage intermittently with singers Luke Upton and Cara Dudgeon, included a captivating mix of ballroom and latin routines - my favourites were the Argentine tango and a fast and furious jive. The pair, who are clearly good friends, demonstrated how that connection translates itself through dance, the fluidity and beauty of each movement leading seamlessly into the next step or lift held your gaze and attention throughout.

Audience participation really helped to bring the fun factor out in this show and for the die hard Strictly fans (yes, I am one of them!) it was a real treat to see such energy and enthusiasm on the stage as opposed to the small screen.

Natalie’s Strictly days are now at an end, she announced her retirement earlier this month after seven years - Ian left the show in 2009, but he’s still a part of the dance fever on It Takes Two with Zoe Ball on BBC2.

Tonight the tour arrives in Norwich before the pair perform at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on Tuesday evening.

If I were to have a glittery paddle board to rate this performance, it would be a 9 from me.
