POLICE have closed a stretch of the A12 following a serious crash.

The accident took place at 2.50pm today near Stratford St Mary on the Suffolk and Essex border.
It is believed a car struck a tree.
The London-bound carriageway has been closed.

The air ambulance was dispatched to the scene to collect a casualty and transport them to hospital.
