Dozens of over 50s took part in the return of the ActivIpswich pentathlon, which puts on sport taster sessions to get older people into regular activity and exercise in a social environment.
The challenge featured people aged 50 upwards trying their hand at pickleball – a racquet sport combining elements of tennis and badminton – yoga, squash, gymnastics and athletics, across five weeks.
The project aims to help those who don’t take part in regular sport or activity to give it a go in a space where they can make new friends and enjoy the sessions at a leisurely pace.
Mike McCarthy from ActivIpswich said: “The response to this challenge event has been brilliant.
“It really has been inspirational to see such enthusiasm and commitment to giving sport a go, particularly from people who are not usually regular sports participants.”
