Air ambulance takes motorcyclist to hospital following crash in Old London Road, Copdock

A motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries in a collision with a Seat Leon in Copdock was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Police were called to Old London Road in the village near Ipswich at 12.45pm.
A force spokesman said ambulance staff and officers were at the scene, with the road closed in both directions while an investigation takes place.
The male motorcyclist suffered serious facial injuries, including “various fractures”, the spokesman added.
He had been riding a Suzuki motorbike which was in a collision with a black Seat Leon. An air ambulance airlifted him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said a second patient was injured and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.
Few details are available about their injuries but they are not thought to be life-threatening, she added.

The collision was on the south-bound section of the road.
Earlier there were concerns the motorcyclist’s injuries could have been “life-threatening”.
A police spokeswoman said at 5.20pm that the road is expected to reopened shortly.
