AN ambulance responding to an urgent call was involved in a head on crash with a car today.Three children and an adult travelling in the car were injured and an occupant of the ambulance were taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life threatening.
AN ambulance responding to an urgent call was involved in a head on crash with a car today.
Three children and an adult travelling in a Citroen Xantia were injured and an occupant of the ambulance were taken to hospital with injuries. They were not thought to be life threatening.
The accident happened at 11.50am on the Bildeston Road, at Barking, close to Wattisham Airfield.
The female driver of the ambulance, which was not carrying any patients at the time of the crash, was treated by paramedics at the scene who were making her condition stable before taking her to hospital.
A police helicopter and the air ambulance were both also called to the scene.
A spokesman for East Anglian Ambulance Trust said the vehicle involved in the smash was on its way to an urgent call made by a doctor.
However a spokesman stressed it was not classed as an emergency call and its blue lights were not flashing at the time.
