A SOLDIER from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment was killed during an attack on his patrol base in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence confirmed today.
The serviceman was injured when the base, north-east of Sangin in the volatile Helmand Province, came under attack from small arms fire, rocket propelled grenades, and indirect fire, at about 1.20pm yesterday.
The soldier's family have been informed.
It follows the death of 27-year-old Private Tony Rawson, of Dagenham, Essex - who served with the same regiment - who was killed when his patrol came under fire from Taliban fighters in Helmand on Friday.
