A SUFFOLK arms dealer could face prison after being convicted of possessing illegal weapons.

Timothy Richard Ashley, 57, of Pakenham, was found guilty at Ipswich Crown Court of three charges of possessing prohibited weapons including three rock launchers, seven gas guns and an anti tank missile.

However, the former armourer for Suffolk and Norfolk Police was found not guilty of possessing 42 illegal hand guns and 47 machine guns.

He is due to be sentenced on December 19. Judge David Goodin warned: "Custody is a very realistic outcome."
