POLICE today confirmed a man had been arrested in connection with a robbery at Trimley post office and stores.

The 24-year-old - who comes from Felixstowe - has been questioned by detectives investigating an incident in which it is alleged a man with a knife stole cash from the shop.

But at this stage no charges have been brought against the man, who has been released again.

He has been granted police bail while further inquiries take place.

He will be required to return to Felixstowe police station at a later date to hear the outcome.

The incident happened at the McColl's post office and general stores in High Road, Trimley St Martin, at around 8.40pm on Monday.

Two shop staff were left badly shaken but unhurt after the robbery.

They handed over a quantity of cash - - believed to be around £150 in total - in bags of coins and some notes in a white carrier bag.

Police were alerted immediately after the incident, and the force helicopter was sent to scour the area with its night-sight cameras, concentrating on the Stennetts Field area for around half an hour.

Officers appealed for witnesses after the incident, and have also been studying CCTV from cameras inside the shop.
