A MAN arrested in connection with an armed robbery on a security van in Ipswich has today been released on police bail.

As reported on The Evening Star's website yesterday, a 25-year-old man from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire was arrested and taken to Ipswich police station yesterday where he was questioned about a robbery in Nacton Road.

The man is the second to be arrested in connection with the raid on a Securicor van on November 18 last year.

Three men are believed to have been involved in the gunpoint hold-up outside Lloyds TSB.

A 40-year-old man from Norwich was arrested in connection with the attack in January and has also been released on police bail.

A second raid happened at the bank 12 weeks later on February 10, in which two men held up a Securicor van and a guard was struck with the butt of a gun.

He was left in need of hospital treatment after sustaining an injury to his eye.

Police are not linking the two incidents and have made no arrests in connection with the second attack.

The man arrested yesterday is due to return to Ipswich police station on March 20.

Anyone with information about either of the robberies should call Ipswich police on 01473 613500 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
