BACKLOGGED housing and council tax benefit claims have been cleared and workers have won praise for their efforts.
Bob Southgate, head of revenues at Babergh District Council, said the Benefit Fraud Inspectorate has recognised that the council has made significant improvements and applies good administration practices.
He said: "Since the inspection was completed in February, there has been further significant progress in relation to the council's handling of housing and council tax benefit applications.
"In February there was a backlog, but with hard work by the staff and additional resources being provided by the council, that backlog has now been cleared.
"We are now providing a far better service, based on our twin objectives of paying benefit quickly and promptly to those who are entitled to it, and preventing those who are not entitled from receiving benefit."
