Rail services are expected to return to normal today after engineers worked to rectify damage caused by Monday’s storm.

Officials at Greater Anglia have said commuters will still need to check for train updates before travelling but they are aiming to operate a full service on all routes.

Damage to overhead wires and fallen branches and trees on a series of lines have meant that the majority of services were cancelled on Monday, with just a few limited services operating in the evening.

A spokesman for Greater Anglia added: “Customers are strongly advised to check before they travel.”
