AN investigation has been launched today after a body was found following a house fire.

Suffolk police today said they had been called after firefighters found the body inside the house in Lowestoft.

Officers were called to an address in Diprose Drive, Oulton, by the fire service just after 6am today.

A fire service spokesman said firefighters began tackling the blaze but pulled back when it spread to a garage containing a car, a van and acetylene cylinders.

Scores of people were evacuated after gas canisters were found in a garage attached to the house.

Police set up a cordon and more than 100 people were moved out of their homes.

A total of 30 firefighters withdrew from the area surrounding the house and roads in the area were closed.
