The body of a man was pulled from a river yesterday morning, police have said.

A member of the public found personal belongings, including a wallet and trainers, by the River Gipping in Sproughton and called Suffolk Constabulary around 8am yesterday (May 10).

Officers arrived to search the area but at first found no sign of a person.

After making enquiries using the details contained in the wallet police returned to the area at 9.15am.

It was then they found the body of a man, though to be in his early 40s, and pulled it from the water.

A police spokesman said the death was not being treated as suspicious.
