A man, claiming to be from Siemens, called at a house in Semer Close at about 10.50am yesterday and said he wanted to change the electricity metre.
He had no identification and was refused access by householder who immediately called police. Powergen have confirmed that no one from Siemens should have been in the area yesterday.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 20s of slim build and with ginger hair and a ginger beard.
He was wearing a blue jacket with a Siemens logo thereon.
