Officials from Ipswich council have met market traders to hear their views on what should happen to their stalls while the Cornhill his being rebuilt next year.
The borough and county councils spent hundreds of thousands of pound earlier this year preparing Queen Street and Princes Street for the market while the work is being completed – a move backed overwhelmingly by our readers.
But many stallholders want the market to be relocated along Westgate Street and Tavern Street in front of the shops. The council is currently preparing a report and is getting the views of everyone involved in the decision – including town centre businesses and members of the Ipswich Vision Partnership.
On Thursday officials from the borough met some of the market traders – but council leader David Ellesmere said there was no firm decision yet on what should happen to the stalls when the rebuilding work starts in January.
