The Orwell Bridge is open in both directions after the recovery of lorry which had broken down causing ‘mile long’ tailbacks on the A14.
Police were called today at around 10.55am to reports of a stationary articulated lorry in lane one of the A14 Orwell Bridge, westbound towards Wherstead.
A police spokeswoman said at the time that tailbacks were thought to be a mile long.
The vehicle’s clutch had broken and so recovery was called.
Police have since confirmed the lorry had been taken off the Orwell Bridge, allowing the westbound lane to reopened.
It has been open since around noon.
