GORDON Brown started his 11th, and almost certainly last budget, by announcing that inflation would fall to just two per cent over the next year.It had peaked at three pc, but was already starting to fall.

It had peaked at three pc, but was already starting to fall.

Mr Brown said the economy would grow by between 2.5 and three pc over each of the next two years.
