An ongoing partnership between a college and a brewery in Ipswich has led to the creation of a beer, and opportunities for young people to gain experience in the work place.

Suffolk New College and independent bar and restaurant, Three Wise Monkeys, have been working together for the past 12 months, with hospitality learners getting the opportunity to have hands-on experience.

So far, three learners have been taken on by the Three Wise Monkeys.

Millissa Mallett, people development manager at the restaurant and bar said: "We are all working with and providing opportunities for people in the local community and this union has been developing really positively.

"Developing unique and innovative partnerships is crucial to the hospitality industry.

"It's been a real challenge to find staff after Covid and Brexit, so it is essential we find new ways of drawing talent to our business."

In a further development to the link up, the college has teamed up with the brewery side of Three Wise Monkeys to create a drink called Chefs Whites, named after the college restaurant based on Rope Walk.
