Students from the University of Suffolk BA Hons Computer Games Design course have been awarded £5,000 and a place on Tranzfuser; a UK-wide talent programme that helps young people to develop gaming ideas.
The team of four known as IndieByte Studios, graduated from University of Suffolk this summer and are now preparing to showcase their work at EGX 2017, the UK’s biggest consumer games event, held at the Birmingham NEC in September.
At the event IndieByte will be pitching their prototype along with 22 other teams to a panel of games industry experts for the opportunity to receive a grant of up to £25,000 from the UK Games Fund.
The Eastern Enterprise Hub in partnership with the University of Suffolk has provided the Ipswich Games Hub creative space and a dynamic learning environment for IndieByte to meet and develop their ideas. In addition, the team has received expert advice from industry professionals and guidance to help take their business plan to the next level.
Heidi Love, learning manager at the Eastern Enterprise Hub said:“This is the second year running we have supported a team in the Tranzfuser project. It’s testament to the University of Suffolk that they are continuing to produce such fantastic talent who are able to compete at a national level.
“IndieByte have enormous potential and I’m really looking forward to seeing them present their demo next month at EGX 2017.”
Rob Kurta, Head of Games at University of Suffolk said:“The Tranzfuser Programme is a fantastic opportunity for IndieByte to demonstrate their games development skills and it’s a great window for all the teams to raise their profile.
“We’re delighted that another team who studied at the University of Suffolk has made it to a nationally recognised showcase event.”
IndieByte Team members are Darren Williams, Dalton Kirk, Ashley Burton and Ryan Lavelle
