Thousands of people turned out at the ever-popular Ipswich Beer Festival over the weekend when it made its first appearance at the home of the town’s football club.

Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) brought its 32nd festival to Portman Road stadium’s practice pitches from Thursday to Saturday.

The event included more than 180 different real ales and more than 80 varieties of cider.

There were also foreign beers, food stalls, entertainment including face painting, a family friendly area and souvenir glasses.

The festival is normally held in August and for the past few years has been part of the Ipswich Maritime Festival.

However, last year it was not run by Camra due to a change of date for the maritime event which meant equipment for cooling and serving the beer would not have been available.

The event’s chosen charity for this year was Krissy and Friends, which provides therapy through music for children diagnosed with life-threatening injuries or illnesses, and their families.
