A lost toy has been getting up to mischief at Stansted Airport – in a bid to find his owner.

The Elf was found by a member of staff at the Essex transport hub outside the terminal building.

Instead of being handed into lost property, the Elfie was given to the care of the customer service team – who launched a campaign to reunite the toy with its rightful owner.

While they have been hard at work, the Elf has been left to his own devices, and has taken a whole series of selfies around the airport.

A spokeswoman from the social media team said: “One of our security advisors found the little elf on the terminal forecourt, so we’re not sure if the passenger who lost it was arriving or departing.

“We are hoping to use the power of social media to share the post to find the human owner who lost him. We want to get him home by Christmas, so would ask everyone to help by sharing his plight.

“As we all know elves get up to all sorts of mischievous things, so he has been running around the terminal trying to find his owner.

“While he has been waiting he has been helping retailers in the shops.”

The Elf was handed in on November 28.
