VILLAGERS in Capel St Mary showed off their tulips and turnips at their annual Flower and Produce Show.
Organisers were pleased so many people came along to admire the fruit and vegetables on display as well as the crafts, cookery and photos.
Phil Hickley from the village's allotments association, which organised the show, said: “It was extremely good.
“We had 650 exhibits from around 90 people which was well up on last year. All the judges commented on the quality of the exhibits; everyone did really well.”
He said the most popular categories were the 'mammoth' vegetables classes which included a 70kg (154lb) pumpkin and a 61.8cm (two feet) runner bean.
But Mr Hickley stressed that the event was not just for members of the allotments association and said that people had come from as far away as Felixstowe and Sudbury.
He added: “The children also got involved which is good because it gets them thinking about produce and encourages their own interests. It also gives them a sense of community involvement even though not everyone wins prizes.”
