Staff and volunteers at an Ipswich charity shop held a walk on Friday to help spread awareness of the needs of people with complex disabilities.

Organised by national charity Sense, the event was one of ten across the country in aid of Deafblind Awareness week, which ran from June 24 to June 30.

The walk aimed to promote wellbeing and healthy living as well as providing an opportunity to engage with the community.

The troupe of charity trekkers set off from the Sense shop in Meredith Road, Whitton, before heading to children’s amusement centre Billy Beez, where mascots joined the walk.

They then stomped to the finishing line at the Sense shop in Upper Brook Street.

Jenni-Lee Clarke, manager of the Whitton shop, said: “It was a brilliant day, with the public joining us in a walk that helped with community engagement and raised awareness of complex disabilities.”
