The club meets between 10am-noon on Saturdays in school term time.
Mayor of Ipswich Maureen Carrington-Brown – a keen chess player – attended the open day at Copleston High School, along with one of Suffolk's youngest chess players, a five-year-old boy.
Organiser Steven Donaghy said that all standards of player aged from five to 18 years old are welcome at the club any term-time Saturday at Copleston school in Ipswich.
