Two children were taken to hospital after getting into difficulties off Felixstowe Pier during the town’s carnival.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the incident, which involved two children – a boy and a girl – happened at 4.40pm today.
A spokesman said: “The two children were swimming near the pier and there were reports they had been swept under. Luckily the Felixstowe Volunteer Coast Patrol Rescue Service was on hand. They had swallowed some seawater, were vomiting and had a form of hyperthermia.”
They were taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
