SUFFOLK Police's force helicopter hovered above Ipswich as it tried to locate two burglars and monitored a group of boys acting suspiciously near a car.

The chopper was initially called out at about 5pm yesterday, to Pembroke Close, where a failed burglary had taken place.

It was back out in the sky above the town a few hours later at 8.49pm after a man living in Cullingham Road called police to tell them he had woken up to find somebody in his house.

The man had chased the offender out of the house and the helicopter tried to locate him in the area. The search was called off at about 9.15pm.

About 45 minutes later the helicopter and crew were out again, this time to Morland Road.

Police had received reports six youths were trying to start a car in the street. Their behaviour appeared suspicious although one caller to police suggested they were merely trying to jump-start it.

The chopper hovered above the scene, monitoring the incident.

No arrests or charges were made in connection to any of the call outs.
