ABRACADABRA! A magical splash of Christmas colour has been spotted on Felixstowe's beach!

It may have been high summer but Christmas was on the agenda for a group of amateur actors going for a paddle as they officially opened the box office for their Christmas pantomime, Aladdin.

On the wind-swept beach next to the gleaming water on the hot summer day, the actors from the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company rallied round in their costumes to watch the Mayor of Felixstowe, Malcolm Mimms cut the red tape to open the box office for ticket sales.

A frightening Abanazar , shrouded in a black cloak, stood along side Wishee Washee, who was wearing an equally frightening neon dress. The beautiful Princess Butterfly also stood on the beach while Chinese music played in the background and martial arts experts performed their moves.

The 37th pantomime to be performed by the Dennis Lowe Theatre Company will be directed by Sylvia Lowe. It will be her second outing as artistic director since her husband, Dennis, died in 1999.

The pantomimes have raised more than £100,000 for Felixstowe Mencap over the years as all proceeds from the annual pantomimes are donated to the charity.

The theatre company is hoping to cast the budding 17-year-old star, Suzanne Lowe, as Aladdin.

Suzanne, Mrs Lowe's daughter, a trained professional singer and dancer, said she was keen to play the lead role – but professional commitments in London unfortunately prevented her from joining the cast.

The Christmas pantomime at the Spa pavilion theatre will be performed from December 21 to January 11, with a special matinee on boxing day.

Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £4.50 for children and discounts are available for families and group bookings.
