Christmas is the time for giving – a message that will burn brightly in Stowmarket this year.
Jill Roberts and her Asda colleague, Michelle Frost, are organising a Christmas Day lunch for people who would otherwise be on their own. People are asked to register at the United Reformed Church, which will host the event.
Mrs Roberts, 50, said: “We are organising the community lunch after we realised there is nowhere for some people to go on Christmas Day. The lunch will be for people, regardless of age, in the Stowmarket area.
“We have gone to local businesses and it’s been amazing. They’ve given us stock for cost price, people have come together and been very generous, there are a lot of kind people out there.”
Businesses that want to help should call Mrs Roberts on 07712 152441.
