A DATE has been confirmed for this year's Evening Star Christmas Carol Service - and we want to see you there.

The service will be held at St Margaret's Church in St. Margaret's Green on Monday, December 12, starting at 7.30pm.

Every last penny raised at the service will go to the Star's Let Them Play Christmas appeal which is aiming to reach the £30,000 mark in order that the children's play area at Ipswich Hospital can be resurfaced.

After the success of last year's carol service, this year's event is sure to be a popular festive event and Monica Meredith, the Star's promotions and events executive, urged people to snap tickets up quickly.

She said: “Last year's service was very well attended and we expect demand for tickets to be high again this year.

“There will be well-known people from the community giving readings and a school choir at the service.

“It should be an enjoyable service for everyone and it will really get people in the Christmas spirit.”

Around 300 people are expected to pack out the church on the night.

Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks was among the guests last year and other familiar faces are expected this time too.

There will be free parking available in the play ground at St Margaret's Primary School in Bolton Lane.

Tickets for the carol service cost £1 and are available at the Evening Star's offices in Lower Brook Street.

Alternatively, send a cheque to us at Evening Star, 30 Lower Brook Street, Ipswich, IP4 1AN, made payable to Archant Regional Ltd.
