A 46-year-old man was air lifted to hospital today after his green Skoda taxi collided with a silver Jaguar in Colchester.
The collision happened at around 9.50am in Mersea Road, Abberton, Colchester, and the road was closed for four hours.
The man was trapped in his car for more than an hour while police and ambulance crews tried to free him.
He was later taken to Colchester General Hospital and is thought to have several cracked vertebrae.
His 15-year-old school boy passenger was also injured in the collision and received bruising to his chest.
The 70-year-old woman driver of the Jaguar and her 74-year-old passenger, both from Suffolk, were taken to Colchester Hospital with minor bruising.
