A COMPANY director from Suffolk has been banned from acting as a director of any company for six years after a catalogue of failures and false claims.
Terence Edwards, of Goodman Grove, Kesgrave, was disqualified on January 14 along with his partner Lloyd Dean, of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, who was disqualified for five years.
The two men were directors of Bel Services based in Cambridgeshire. The company carried out electrical and mechanical contracts and went in to liquidation in February last year with liabilities of more than £240,000.
Mr Edwards and Mr Dean did not dispute any of the reasons for their disqualification which included causing Bel Services to carry out gas installation work by falsely claiming to be registered as is required by the law.
They also failed to comply with their legal obligation in relation to VAT, National Insurance, and income tax.
It was also proved they kept hold of money which should have gone to the Crown and that they failed to keep accurate accounting records and to provide up to date financial information.
Finally they failed to exercise proper stewardship of Bel Services after October 31, 1999.
