COMPOST bins are being offered to gardeners in the Suffolk Coastal area at a bargain price.

The district council has linked up with the Government-funded Waste Resource Action Programme (WRAP) to offer bins from just £8 with free delivery.

Cabinet member Andrew Nunn said: “Since last April, over 1,700 compost bins have been bought by our residents through our partnership with WRAP, and we estimate that well over 12,600 bins have become features of this district's gardens since we started promoting home composting.

“Many people like having their own compost bin because they know it is their own personal free source of environmentally-friendly soil improver.

“Home composting also means that there is more room in the council's brown wheeled garden waste bin for things that are not suitable for home composting such as cooked food waste and large amounts of cardboard which are recycled at the central composting facility at Parham.

“It is not unusual for people to have more than the one compost bin and this latest offer is the ideal chance to either get into the composting habit or to buy an additional one to double the goodness that you are creating in your own back garden.”

A 220 litre Ecomax bin costs only £8, a 330 litre costs £10 while the modular 250 litre KOMP bin costs £20 - all with free delivery. Call 0845 077 0757 to order.
