Seemingly normal suburban homes, that could be next door to any one of us, are being ripped apart to grow cannabis plants that can net cultivators hundreds of thousands of pounds.
And behind some factories lies a regime of violence and misery as some growers are forced into taking part in the operation to pay back drug debts or to pay for gaining entry to the UK.
