County braced for thunderstorms

SUFFOLK was on alert today after weather forecasters warned of possible torrential rain and spectacular thunderstorms during the second half of the day.

The south east of England, including East Anglia, was warned to expect the heavy storms – although forecasters accepted that these could be localised.

"One area could get a real soaking with the chance of flash floods, while a few miles down the road it could remain dry," said a spokesman for the Met Office.
