The county's roads were being gritted this afternoon in anticipation of more freezing conditions.

Suffolk County Council was also set to send its fleet of gritters out tomorrow morning.

Snow is expected to hit the region tomorrow and conditions will remain icy for the rest of the week.

A spokesperson for the County Council said: “The weather continues to be cold with freezing temperatures at night.

“There is a chance of a light dusting of snow tonight and some more persistent snow tomorrow morning from around 7/8 am giving a covering of about 1cm.

“Ground temperatures are still very cold. The forecast for the rest of the week suggest further light snow at first and overnight freezing but by Friday the precipitation is expected to be rain and begin a rapid thaw of any remaining snow.

“Temperatures may remain above freezing on Friday night but will fall back below again on Saturday night.”
